well the time has finally come, i can start on my Carfighter.
the first time i saw the Road Squadron site, i thought "wow these people have WAYYYY too much time on there hands" LOL
But now alas i happily find myself amongst your ranks.
first i guess i should intrduce myself, im Drew Barker from Denver, which i believe by the map i saw, makes me the first Rocky mountain member. ive know Kim for some time now and just recently met Obi-shawn at the FIDM event in LA.
i felt that i shouldnt join until i at least have a potential car in my possesion, well that day has finally come, i spent close to a year looking in Jukyards and just at cars on the road to find my starting point, my thoughts were leaning towards a 70 something Datsun 280 Z, the similar looking 85 Mazda RX7, and even a 71 Volvo 1800E, then i saw "IT" the perfect car, a 1987 Toyota MR2.
Now finding the right type of car is one thing but finding one in my budget is another. all i can say is thank god for Craigs list, i found one there for 200 dollars, it needs some body work and a new interior, but the engine and tranny are good.
as soon as i get a photobucket album i will post pics of my starting point.
now for my plans, obviously an R2 (fully functioning) on the back which i have a line on someone who makes them(for a price lol), on either side attatched to the trunk will be thruster engines, trunk hinges reversed so i can open it with the engines still attatched, and last but not least, (at least for the major mods) Lamborghini style door hinges.
well thats me and my project, i swear that my future posts will not be this long ;D
